Safe use
Confidentiality comes first.
The safeguards we build into every rollout for solicitors, and train the team on.
Nothing Claude drafts is sent or filed without a solicitor reviewing it.
Any case, statute or citation is checked against a primary source before it is relied on.
Identifiable client information and privileged material stay out. The team works with anonymised versions.
Your regulator's guidance on technology, confidentiality and supervision still applies.

Prompts to try
Copy, paste, adapt.
Starting points written for solicitors. Replace the [brackets], leave out names and anything personal or sensitive, and check the output before you use it.

01Checklist review
> Review the attached [document type, with client names and identifying details removed] against this checklist: [paste checklist]. For each point, say whether the document covers it, quote the relevant clause and page, and flag anything unusual. If a point is not covered, say so plainly. Do not give legal conclusions; I will review your findings.
02Client update
> Using the outline below, which contains no client names or identifying details, draft a short update explaining where a matter stands, what we are waiting for and the next two steps. Plain English, warm and professional, under 200 words. Use [Client] as a placeholder; I will add the details before sending.
03Version comparison
> Compare these two versions of our [standard document, e.g. template NDA]. List every change with its clause number, say whether it favours us or the other side, and flag anything that departs from our usual position. Do not give legal conclusions; I will review.
What we set up
Built around your precedents.
- 01
Projects per practice area
Your precedents, checklists and house style, so drafts start from the firm's own work.
- 02
Review Skills
Your standard review checklists turned into repeatable Skills that cite clause and page.
- 03
Confidentiality rules built in
Approved tools only, identifiable client information kept out, and anonymising built into the way the team works.
Can solicitors use Claude with client documents?
We recommend keeping identifiable client information and privileged material out of AI tools. Most of the value comes from work that does not need it: precedents, templates, checklists, version comparisons and anonymised documents. Your confidentiality and regulatory obligations apply to any use, so check your regulator's guidance and your client terms first.
Can Claude give legal advice?
No. Claude can summarise, compare and draft, but it can be wrong and it is not accountable. A solicitor reviews everything and gives the advice.
Does Claude make up case law?
Any AI model can state things that sound right but are wrong, including citations. Use Claude to summarise documents you provide and to orient research, and always verify authorities against primary sources.
