Claude for project managers
Claude for project managers: less reporting, more delivering.
Project managers spend a surprising share of the week writing about the project rather than running it: status reports, meeting notes, risk logs and stakeholder updates. Claude drafts the paperwork so you can spend that time unblocking the team.

Illustrative example
What Claude helps with
Less time reporting, more time delivering.
Weekly status reports
Turn notes and updates into a clear status report in your format, with progress, risks and decisions needed.
Meeting notes to actions
Rough notes become a summary, a list of actions with owners and dates, and a follow-up email.
Risk and issue logs
Spot risks hidden in updates and draft entries with likelihood, impact and a suggested mitigation.
Plans from briefs
Turn a project brief into phases, milestones and a first task list to refine with the team.
Stakeholder updates
The same update rewritten for the board, the client and the delivery team, at the right level of detail.
Retrospectives
Group feedback into themes and draft the actions that came out of the session.
How it works
The weekly status cycle, in half the time.
- 01
Collect updates
Team updates, tool exports and meeting notes, as they already come in.
- 02
Draft the report
Claude drafts the status report in your format and flags risks and gaps.
- 03
Check and decide
You check the facts, set the RAG status and decide what to escalate.
- 04
Send to each audience
One update, adapted for the steering group, the client and the team.
Prompts to try
Copy, paste, adapt.
Starting points written for project managers. Replace the [brackets], leave out names and anything personal or sensitive, and check the output before you use it.
Status report
Here are this week's updates from the team. Write a status report in this format: overall status (green, amber or red) with one sentence why, progress against milestones, top three risks, and decisions needed from the steering group. Under 300 words. Flag anything that looks inconsistent.
Actions from a meeting
Turn these meeting notes into: a three-line summary, a table of actions with owner and due date, and any decisions made. If an action has no owner or date, list it separately as 'needs an owner'.
Risk spotting
Read these project updates and list any risks or issues they suggest, even if nobody called them out. For each, give likelihood, impact and one practical mitigation. Do not invent facts that are not in the updates.

What we set up
One reporting standard, every project.
- 01
A Project per programme
Briefs, plans, decisions and templates in one place, so every update starts from the latest context.
- 02
Reporting Skills
Your status report, risk log and steering pack formats, applied the same way by every project manager.
- 03
Connected to your tools
Connectors to project and document tools, so Claude can find updates within each person's access.
Safe use
Four rules for project reporting.
- 01
Dates, budgets and commitments are checked against the plan before anything is shared.
- 02
Client-confidential details are removed or kept within approved tools only.
- 03
Claude drafts the update; the project manager decides what is reported and owns it.
- 04
Comments about individual performance stay out of AI tools.
Can Claude connect to our project management tool?
Claude connects to many business tools through connectors, and custom connectors can link to others. What is available depends on your plan and your tools. Connectors work within each person's existing access.
Will Claude decide the project status?
No. Claude drafts the report and flags risks; the project manager checks the facts and decides the status and what to escalate.
Is it safe to use Claude with client project information?
Use an approved business plan and remove client names and confidential details where you can. Most reporting works just as well with neutral labels.
